Experiencing the Art Deco Trust in Napier

Napier, a tiny but unique New Zealand city boasts of a rich cultural heritage that sets it apart from the rest of tourist destinations in the region. It is located in the heart of Hawke Bay's spectacular wine region and is known for its scenic as well as manmade offerings. Napier had suffered a devastating earthquake in 1931 and this natural catastrophe had destroyed much of the town. However, the resilience and determination of its local populace has made it bounce back as one of the best located and newest city centre in the world.

Napier is all about nostalgia. In 1985, an Art Deco Trust was founded to preserve and promote and the world-class collection of exquisite Art Deco architecture. This trust offers all tourists and other interested art lovers a range of interesting activities such as vintage cars tours and guided historical walks.
One of the best highlights of the Art Deco Trust is the much awaited Art Deco Weekend -that takes place the third weekend of February every year. On these days, the entire town goes back in time and dresses in its most elegant deco finery. Picnics, vintage vehicles, zooming planes as well as parades, jazz concerts, good wine and food are some of most awaited events of this weekend. You would want to avail car rental services in Napier while you move around the town and experience the glories of the Art Deco Trust.
