Brisbane is Australia’s ritzy city with a very down to earth attitude. The wonderful climate makes it a year-round destination for travel aficionados. It has also been a revered “stop-by” destination for backpackers. For someone like me who likes to travel on a shoestring budget, Brisbane is the ideal getaway.
One of the most preferred hang-out spots in Brisbane is the Woorim Beach. You can engage in water-sport activities like surfing, swimming, board riding etc. Alternately, you can pick a cosy spot and have a picnic or a bar-be-cue get-together. A personal favourite of mine is a trip to Bribie Island. It is one of Queensland’s only two islands connected to the mainland by bridge. A visit to the Bribie Island is akin to a rendezvous with calm beaches, devoid of much commotion! It offers the perfect setting for a leisurely swim or a surfing safari. If you want a brush with Brisbane’s military history without shelling-out a single dime, visit the Fort Lytton National Park. The well-preserved fort is shaped like a pentagon. It is concealed behind grassy embankments and surrounded by a water-filled moat. Go around the castle on a “DIY” tour and immerse yourself in the fascinating history that surrounds the fort. Learn how guns could fire over the fort’s ramparts before being lowered to an extent that they disappeared from the view! Conclude your trip with a visit to the Abbey Museum which houses a priceless collection of antiquities and fine art marvels.
After landing at Brisbane, avail car rental services at the airport. They allow you to leisurely travel across Brisbane without having to worry about public transport schedules. The best price policy is upheld by car agencies. It is advised to make an advanced car rental reservation so that you find your vehicle waiting at the airport!
