New Zealand – A Hiker’s In-Budget Paradise!

For a real in-depth tour of New Zealand, I want to introduce hiking as the best way to go! You’ll get to see the wonderful landscapes, explore the wilderness and lots more. There are walk ways running through the terrain which you can walk along for hours, days or months!

Getting a discount car rental to reach various destinations is a great way to save time and money and avoid the constraints of local transport. You can take up a challenge on one of the Great Walks and experience the iconic beauty of New Zealand.

To begin with, out of the 9 great walks, I found the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Lake Waikaremoana Walk and Tongariro Northern Circuit to be the most interesting.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing
The Tongariro track runs across the Tongariro National Park and is a world heritage site. Tour packages are available from the village nearby. You can get accommodation and local guides if you wish to spend some time at the park. You begin your trek at Mangatepopo with a guide to help you. You will move from the rain forest area to Ketetahi where the shuttle which takes you back will be waiting. Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture the beauty and take it back home!

Tongariro Northern Circuit
The Northern Circuit of Tongariro takes the prize for the most stunning and breath-taking trek site in New Zealand.  This trail is a 50km loop which circles Mount Ngauruhoe.

Lake Waikaremoana Walk
This Great Walk is a 43 km tramp along the western side of Lake Waikaremoana in North New Zealand. It passes through forests and grasslands and offers panoramic views along the way. Besides these, there are many other trekking trails which provide guided tours.

If you wish to make the most of your time at New Zealand, make sure you get a discount car rental from the city you land in. These are easily available and will help your reach your destinations quickly and economically. So you spend more time exploring rather than waiting.
