On the face of it Auckland comes across as a leisurely city made up of more rural areas than urban. However most of its population resides in the urban areas and is full of life and adventure. Owing to the fact that it is surrounded by water and has two harbours on either side, sailing and water-sports are a huge rage here not only as recreational activities but also as a way of life. In fact Auckland is known as the ‘city of sails’ and almost one third of the population here owns a boat.

When in the city, you can take a half day sea kayak tour and explore the Waitemata Harbour or pick a snorkeling and scuba diving tour at the famous Goat Island. If seeing is more your thing than doing, you can simply opt for a glass bottom boat tour of Goat Island. You can even avail of car hire in Auckland services and explore other adventurous sights like the volcanic fields of Mt. Eden and North Head.

Hiring a car
The best way to see Auckland is by a combination of boat and car. The boat tours and sailing will help in exploring all the great water areas of the city but a personal car will help you and your friends get to and from the water sport and surfing locations.

Car rental services in Auckland are affordable and extremely convenient. Moreover almost all major cities will have car rental counters at all significant tourist locations and all you need to do is pick up and drop the car as per your convenience.
